Impact on enviroment & health

So how does single use plastic effect the enviroment?

Single-use plastics pose severe environmental threats by polluting oceans, contaminating soil, and endangering wildlife through ingestion and entanglement. These plastics take over 400 years to decompose, breaking into microplastics that enter the food chain.

It also effects marine ecosystems

Thousands of marine animals die annually from eating or becoming entangled in plastic waste. Vast garbage patches exist in every ocean, with the North Pacific patch holding large amounts of confetti-like plastic debris.

How it effects health

These plastics take over 400 years to decompose, breaking into microplastics that enter the food chain. With it entering the food chain it is affecting our health as the food is leaching microplastics in to our bodys.when microplastics have been found in human blood, tissues, and organs, it has been found to potentially cause chronic inflammation, oxidative stress, and cell death, increasing risks for tissue damage and illnesses. They accumulate in the gut, lungs, and kidneys, potentially causing immune system issues.

"Single-use plastics pose a severe threat to ecosystems, with experts labeling them a throwaway society symbol that leaves a terrible legacy"
